PAUL KENNY
Drummer Paul Kenny has been extensively involved in the Irish and German music scenes for the last number of years. Paul has played a wide variety of music in his drumming career ranging from all types of rock music to blues, funk, soul, and even classical music.
Paul was awarded a music exchange scholarship to the Pop Akademie in Mannheim in 2005 after completing his studies at the Rock School in Ballyfermot. In his time in Mannheim Paul studied under the world renowned Benny Greb and Greb’s former teacher Udo Dahmen.
Since 2006, Paul has been the drummer with the German band Get Well Soon.
The band has toured extensively in this time, selling out theatres all over Europe and has also appeared at Glastonbury, Roskilde, Electric Picnic and countless other festivals across the continent. Paul played on the Vexations album of 2010 which debuted at number 7 in the album charts in Greece, number 11 in Germany and placed in the top 30 in several other European countries. Get Well Soon were also nominated for the “1live Krone“, the largest radio awards ceremony in Germany, and appeared on the “Aufnehmen Zustand” programme in an hour long broadcast on 3sat television in Germany.
Paul has also been very active on the Irish music scene playing with numerous bands including the 2009 Rising Stars winners of the Dublin City Soul Festival - Mob Fandango. The band are putting the finishing touches to their EP, the bulk of which was recorded in Trend Studios.
Other renowned acts Paul has previously played with include Irish songwriters Wallis Bird and Fiach, with whom he will play with at the Milwaukee Irish Festival later this year.
